University of Colorado - Physician with Neuropalliative Training

Outstanding palliative neurology opportunity with work-life balance in beautiful Colorado

The Department of Neurology is part of the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and is one of the largest Academic Medical Centers between Chicago and the West Coast. The School of Medicine is in the top 25 schools nationally in NIH funding and includes numerous nationally recognized affiliated hospitals.

The Division of Neuro-palliative care within the Department of Neurology is the first of its kind in the US, starting first as a monthly clinic in 2013 and growing into a Section in 2017 now with clinics 5 days per week. The group is internationally recognized as a leader in this emerging field and has been the lead site for several PCORI and NIH-funded clinical trials. The Section includes an interdisciplinary team (PA with a master of science degree in Palliative care, social worker, chaplain with a certificate in palliative care, RN) led by a neurologist with fellowship training in palliative medicine and movement disorders. Affiliated faculty include a neurologist with fellowship training in palliative medicine and neuromuscular disease and a pediatric neurologist with fellowship training in palliative medicine. There is also a palliative care fellowship position with a neurology-focus. The group is seeking to grow and is in search of another neurologist (or physiatrist) with palliative medicine training to work predominantly in the outpatient setting.

Palliative medicine at the University of Colorado is robust with a large volume inpatient consult service, fellowship (2 fellows per year plus one with a neurology-focus), research fellowship, interprofessional Graduate Certificate in Palliative Care, Master of Science Degree in Palliative Care, and general outpatient palliative care clinic within the Oncology center.

Opportunities are available to also work with the inpatient palliative care team, neurology consult service, or other neurology sub-specialty clinic if desired.

Colorado is a highly desirable destination and place to live. With the state's endless outdoor activities, healthy food options and health-focused culture, Colorado is one of the healthiest states in the country. Between the beautiful scenery and the emphasis on an active, healthy lifestyle, you will readily establish the work-life balance all physicians desire.
