Our next event will take place on Tuesday, March 10th at 11am (US-Eastern) where we will be joined by Dr. Sandhya Seshadri, who will present a webinar entitled, "CARe Connections: Addressing What Matters Most to Carers of Persons with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy-body Dementia".
Webinar/research description:
Dr. Sandhya Seshadri will discuss findings from her research study, “CARe Connections” (Competence, Autonomy, Relatedness, and Connections). Funded by the National Institute of Aging, CARe Connections is a novel study that aims to build and implement a peer-led intervention for carers of persons with Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia. Dr. Seshadri will share findings from the first aim of this study that describes what matters most to carers. Informed by the principles of Community Engagement and User Centered Design, she will discuss the next steps for the co-development of the CARe Connections intervention.

Sandhya Seshadri, PhD, MA, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and Assistant Director of Neuropalliative Care Research in the Department of Neurology at the University of Rochester. Her research focuses on building holistic support for carers of persons with serious neurological illnesses through peer support, programs, and psychosocial interventions. In collaboration with a faith-based non-profit organization, she led a study to co-develop an intervention to address social isolation among carers of persons with dementia in underserved communities. She is currently the PI of an NIA K01 study and as a PI/Co-I she has collaborated on multiple interdisciplinary research studies that have been funded by PCORI, NIH, CDC, and the University of Rochester.

Webinars in the series will consist of a presentation followed by an open Q&A and group discussion, with the webinar lasting an hour in total.
While the primary target audience is researchers and health care providers, interested patients and family caregivers are also welcome to attend.
