Dr. Edward Richfield is a Consultant Geriatrician at North Bristol NHS Trust with a specialist interest in movement disorders and neuropalliative care. He qualified from the University of Liverpool in 2002, obtained MRCP (UK) in 2006, and completed a PhD in 2016 through the Universities of Hull and York.
Dr. Richfield has pioneered the development of a dedicated Parkinson’s palliative care service in the UK, supported by competitive grants and recognized nationally for innovative service design. He also established the UK’s first neuropalliative care fellowship and serves as faculty lead for both the Palliative and Parkinson’s Advanced Masterclasses at the Neurology Academy.
Internationally, he chairs the Practice Committee of the International Neuropalliative Care Society and contributes to global efforts to advance neuropalliative care. His academic work includes co-investigator roles on NIHR-funded studies, authorship of numerous peer-reviewed publications, and contributions to clinical guidelines and textbooks.
Dr. Richfield’s leadership, clinical expertise, and commitment to education and research position him as a key advocate for integrating palliative approaches into neurological care worldwide.
