Ambereen Mehta, MD, MPH, FAAPHM
Vice President / President-Elect, INPCS 

Ambereen K. Mehta, MD, MPH, FAAHPM, is the Medical Director of the Palliative Care Program at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and an Associate Professor of Palliative Care in the Departments of Medicine and Neurology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Mehta developed the specialty palliative care program embedded within the Johns Hopkins Center for ALS Specialty Care. She specializes in neuropalliative care and ALS, with a career dedicated to improving the quality of life of people living with serious neurological illness and expanding access to specialty palliative care. 

Dr. Mehta leads multiple research studies funded by the Department of Deference and the ALS Association and has published widely in high‑impact, peer‑reviewed journals on improving palliative care access and education for neurologists. She has written multiple book chapters and education curricula and has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on neuropalliative care, communication, and education.

She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management, and currently the Co-Chair of the INPCS ALS Working Group. Previously, she has held the roles of Chair of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Neuropalliative Special Interest Group, the Chair of the INPCS Strategic Communications Committee, co-Chair of the Northeast ALS Consortium Palliative Subcommittee. She has served as a regular speaker for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the ALS Association.
